Buffalo Sabres honor FeedMore WNY volunteers and WNY frontline workers during their home opener ceremony.

The Buffalo Sabres opened their 2020-2021 season on January 14, 2021 with player introductions by Western New York’s frontline workers. We were excited to have three of our volunteers represent FeedMore WNY during the ceremony, announcing the names of two Sabres players!

Lisa Sulkowski has been a longtime volunteer with FeedMore WNY’s food bank program. She comes in every Saturday with her family to help sort and pack food in our warehouse and make emergency food boxes to be distributed to our partner food pantries and neighbors in need. She also is an indispensable help at our annual Rock Out Hunger food and fund drive. She volunteers for many days at the event, collecting turkeys, nonperishable food donations and monetary donations to help FeedMore WNY.

Candi Sowyrda is an amazing volunteer for FeedMore WNY’s Meals on Wheels program. She and her husband Greg Sowyrda help deliver meals to our homebound neighbors living in the South Buffalo area several times each week (sometimes even 5 times per week), and the pandemic has not slowed them down.

Thank you to the Buffalo Sabres for honoring our volunteers and WNY’s frontline workers during this season’s home opener!
