Marlene loves her home-delivered meals
For all her 91 years of life, Marlene has called Western New York home. Our shared community is where she raised her children, enjoyed her career at a local department store and retired to enjoy her hobbies of reading and keeping up with Jeopardy! — her favorite show.
“I have a little plan in my head every day,” Marlene says, adding it isn’t always easy to stay on top of all the housework by herself. Living alone means every household task depends on her — except for making meals, thanks to friends like you.
Every day, volunteers from FeedMore WNY drop by Marlene’s house as a part of the Home-Delivered Meals program. The daily visits bring delicious, nutritious meals that include chicken, turkey, salad and more, which Marlene is always happy to receive.
Along with needed nutrition, the volunteers always have a happy smile to share with Marlene.
“You couldn’t get any better people than [the volunteers] that come here,” Marlene says gratefully. “Very happy and very thoughtful people.”
By delivering meals and a happy hello, Marlene says the volunteers also have a third gift to deliver — time. Sharing a meal saves her the work of preparation and cleaning, two tasks where Marlene is grateful for the help.
FeedMore’s home delivered meal program provides more than balanced meals. Every delivery by a dedicated volunteer is a friendly connection for the recipient and reassurance for loved ones.
