You help Natacha’s family thrive

Natacha’s four children, ages 17, 16, 15 and 8, are all working hard in school to achieve their dreams, from a career in construction to joining the army.

Since Natacha’s husband died six years ago, the family has had to adjust to life without a beloved member. Like many parents, Natacha’s doing everything she can to give her children the love and support they need to thrive.

The family moved to Buffalo from the Bronx looking for a safe, nurturing environment and a more focused school setting. “Everything is better [here],” Natacha says, adding “The only thing is that food is expensive.”

Food is not only expensive, Natacha continues, but can be hard to find as well. She has to plan ahead for each grocery trip, as there aren’t many local stores and bringing everything back on public transport can be a challenge. Thankfully, friends like you are there to fill the gaps.

At the Evergreen Health Food Pantry, supplied by FeedMore WNY, Natacha can find healthy ingredients to make meals like chicken, beans and rice, lasagna and more. Your support has been a lifeline for Natacha for over a year.

“I appreciate what [donors] do for us,” Natacha says gratefully. “Without them, I couldn’t go forward with making my life.”

The causes of food insecurity are varied – violence, tragedy, unemployment, illness, and more – each of which is unintended or unavoidable. Yet, every path toward solving food insecurity and building a better life in WNY begins with regular access to healthy foods.
