You Fill BackPacks for Amanda and Davina

Davina, 3, started Pre-K at Bloneva Bond Primary School this year. On her first day of school, mom Amanda worried that the big change might be hard for her daughter to handle. But by day three, it was clear that Davina loved going to school — and a major factor in that was the support and encouragement they both received.

When Davina was enrolled, the family sat down with Bloneva Bond Primary’s Family Support Team, also known as the Welcome Wagon. That’s how Amanda learned about all the resources available to support Davina as she learns and grows.

Amanda and Davina signed up to take part in the BackPack Program, made possible by FeedMore WNY and donors who know kids can’t thrive when they don’t have the foods they need. The foods Davina brings home are packed with nutrients and are kid-friendly, like peanut butter, tuna and chicken.

Amanda explains that, on a fixed income, it isn’t always easy to provide balanced meals. “It really does help a lot, while everything keeps going up in price,” she sums up gratefully.

According to Feeding America, 13 million children are food insecure in the U.S. In Western New York, the generosity of FeedMore donors helped fill backpacks, support families and build a brighter future.
