David Served His Country, Now We Serve Him
David loves meeting Home-Delivered Meals volunteers
“they are great.”
When we met David, 87, we were struck by the loving memories he shared about his late wife and time spent raising his family. His quick wit and big smile punctuated his story.
Together, David and his wife built a loving home and he lives there today. That’s where they raised their daughter Eloise, and where his grandson visits when he has time away from his work in the army as a Captain.
A veteran himself, David is glad to share this in common with his grandson. David was commissioned to the commissary, and delivered food to our troops in Korea.
When her mom passed away, Eloise knew she needed help to ensure her Dad still received the nutritional meals that are so important to maintaining good health. She signed David up six months ago. He has enjoyed meeting the volunteers and trying out the variety of meals they bring right to his door.
When asked if he would change anything about the program, he said with a smile, “No, definitely not the volunteers!” He added earnestly, “they are great.”
Counting his blessings, David explained that he was grateful that his daughter lives close enough to visit often. And FeedMore WNY is grateful, too, for the honor of serving the man who served our troops as a Marine.
