A New Chapter with Twin Cities Meals on Wheels
After 51 years of dedicated service to the Tonawandas, Twin Cities Meals on Wheels is partnering with FeedMore WNY to continue its rich tradition of providing high-quality, nutritious meals to homebound seniors in Tonawanda and North Tonawanda.
Meals for Twin Cities Meals on Wheels are now being prepared in the FeedMore WNY commissary at 100 James E. Casey Drive, delivered to volunteers at the current Twin Cities facility at 100 Ridge Road in North Tonawanda, and then distributed to clients.
Work on this partnership began over the summer when Twin Cities Meals on Wheels approached FeedMore WNY seeking a new solution for meal preparation and delivery. After exploring multiple options to continue services in the Tonawandas, Twin Cities Meals on Wheels elected to partner with FeedMore WNY.
“As a member of Meals on Wheels America, FeedMore WNY is dedicated to preparing and delivering nutritious meals to older adults and our neighbors who our homebound,” Tara A. Ellis, FeedMore WNY President & CEO, said. “We are honored that Twin Cities Meals on Wheels chose FeedMore WNY as a partner to continue their amazing work in Tonawanda and North Tonawanda. Our team of social workers has been in contact with all the clients, and they know they will continue to receive healthy and delicious meals in the manner they have come to expect. Our team has also met with all of the Twin Cities Meals on Wheels volunteers, shared information about all of our volunteer opportunities, and we are grateful so many of them have decided to continue delivering these meals and serving their community with us. Maintaining consistency during this transition is very important to us, and the friendships volunteers build with clients are as important as the meals they deliver.”
“Twin Cities Meals on Wheels is grateful for the work of the FeedMore WNY team to make this transition as easy as possible for our clients, staff, and volunteers,” James Burke, Twin Cities Meals on Wheels Board President, said. “Our organization has a long history of serving this community and we are proud of our work. Knowing that tradition will continue without interruption was important to the Twin Cities Meals on Wheels Board of Directors, and we know FeedMore WNY will be a great partner to continue that work.”
