Christine appreciates your support of her food pantry

Christine is used to having people depend on her.

For 21 years, she worked at Buffalo General Medical Center, where doctors counted on her to look after patients and operate life-saving equipment.

“I was a monitor technician, and I watched heart rhythms all day and all night,” Christine explained. “It was a stressful job, but it was one that I was good at.”

Now, Christine faces a different form of daily stress. She is living with a disability and can no longer work. Instead of receiving a steady paycheck every two weeks, her Supplemental Security Income check comes once per month – and it’s not enough to make ends meet.

“I did that job and I saved lives – but now it’s time for me to save my family,” she said.

Christine and her husband take care of her uncle and their five grandchildren. They rely on Taste of Faith Food Pantry – one of FeedMore WNY’s partner agencies, to help them put food on the table.

“We definitely need it because times right now are so hard,” she said. “It’s a great help for me and my family to make sure that we have something wholesome and hot to eat daily,” she said.

Christine appreciates the variety of food she receives from the pantry, including milk, vegetables and meat. Her granddaughter loves that the pantry always has her favorite cereal.

“My grandbaby loves Lucky Charms,” Christine said. “I can’t afford it now because it is like $6 a box, but the pantry has it every time.”

Christine said she never imagined that she would need the assistance of a food pantry, but she is grateful that it is available in her time of need. She appreciates everyone who supports FeedMore WNY and Taste of Faith Food Pantry with donations.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you,” she said. “It’s not going unnoticed. We really appreciate everything you are doing for us.”
