‘Everybody Eats’ shirt highlights community pride while raising critical funds for FeedMore WNY
Western New Yorkers have the opportunity to sport their pride for our local pro football team while supporting FeedMore WNY, thanks to a collaboration with Artdog Designs, The Community T-shirt Project and Retro Buffalo. The local apparel companies have teamed up to create a Western New York football-inspired shirt with the phrase “Everybody Eats” that serves as a fundraiser for FeedMore WNY’s new campus project.
The shirt is available in various styles, including short-sleeve and long-sleeve T-shirts, as well as crewneck and hooded sweatshirts. The prices range from $30-$50 depending on style, and $10 of each shirt sold will be donated to FeedMore WNY’s campaign to construct a new, larger headquarters to better serve the community.
The idea for the shirt came from Kevin Powers, owner of Artdog Designs and The Community T-shirt Project, after he was inspired by our local pro football team’s mantra, “Everybody Eats,” which refers to their offensive strategy and team-centered mindset. Powers saw the connection to FeedMore WNY’s mission of ensuring all community members have enough nutritious food to eat and wanted to find a way to support FeedMore WNY’s mission.
Powers teamed up with Joe Kontrabecki, owner of Retro Buffalo, to design and market the shirt. The proceeds donated from each shirt sale will help FeedMore WNY raise funds for its new headquarters, so that FeedMore WNY will have the critical capacity and infrastructure it needs to address the growing need in the community for food assistance.
“We are grateful to Kevin Powers and Joe Kontrabecki for channeling their design talents and compassion for their neighbors into this fun, creative fundraiser for FeedMore WNY. The ‘Everybody Eats’ mantra resonates with fans of football and FeedMore WNY alike, and we are excited for this opportunity to wear our community pride while helping to feed Western New Yorkers in need,” Collin Bishop, chief communications officer for FeedMore WNY, said. “FeedMore WNY is currently renting and borrowing approximately 30,000 square feet of storage space to maintain our operations. We are critically in need of a new headquarters to be able to serve the more than 142,000 individuals who rely on our services today – and to tackle food insecurity for generations to come. We have been welcoming creative ideas from the community to help us fundraise our future home, and we are so grateful to Kevin and Joe for answering the call in such an amazing way.”
