Marge Appreciates the Food and the Fun

We met Marge, 92, at the Clarence Senior Center, where she sat around a table with friends, laughing and enjoying a delicious lunch, except for the Brussels sprouts. No matter how her friends tried to cajole her. “I just enjoy everybody here. It’s a wonderful group of people,” she says with a chuckle, “but I’m not eating the Brussels sprouts.”

Marge started attending the Senior Center to stay involved with the community. “I like socializing, and this was a good place to do it,” she explains. Soon, she was coming back because of the wide variety of activities and because of the nutritious meals. Lunch is served every weekday, and dinner is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

FeedMore WNY’s more than 400 partner agencies, including Clarence Senior Center, are places to go to meet friends, new and old, learn new hobbies, enjoy various activities and share nutritious meals. For neighbors like Marge, who are older, these community spaces are essential to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Marge appreciates the rotating menu, which makes it much easier to eat enough healthy food. For over 37 years, she’s been coming to the senior center and enjoying meals like beef stroganoff, roasted turkey, stuffed peppers, salads and more.

Speaking about the welcoming environment, the variety of events and, not least of all, the delicious meals shared with friends, Marge says, “I love it here. I really do.”
