Post-Industrial Productions is proud to introduce Quarantine Stories, a virtual evening of new spoken word stories, poems, or monologues created by the Western New York community and curated by the Post-Industrial Productions team. Drawing upon both personal and community experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic, Quarantine Stories invites anyone in WNY to express their thoughts, feelings, frustrations, and struggles through the submission of a 2-4 minute “story” (roughly 500 word limit) that comments upon this challenging time. These “stories” will then be performed by local actors for a virtual audience, both to ensure privacy for anonymous entries and to establish a degree of separation for potentially traumatic experiences.
Quarantine Stories seeks to give a voice to people who are suffering due to social distancing/quarantine orders, and to foster a sense of solidarity during this time of isolation by helping people understand they are not suffering alone Each livestream event will help bring awareness to a WNY nonprofit or charity helping our community during this time. A donation button will be placed prominently in the viewing window during the event, and audience members will be encouraged to make a donation to benefit the participating organization.
The inaugural Quarantine Stories event will take place on Friday, May 29th at 7:30pm on Facebook Live, with all proceeds raised to benefit FeedMore WNY.
